Business advantages of North Central Illinois were promoted to 120 corporate real estate executives at the CoreNet Global Mardi Gras luncheon on February 8 in downtown Chicago. Brad Bruins, Debb Ladgenski, Emily McConville, and Joni Hunt joined NCI president, Ivan Baker, in promoting the region. Site Selection consultants from Chicago were special guests of the North Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation.
The event featured the presentation of the North Central Illinois Development Video, a colorful Mardi Gras theme with live Cajun music, and a special Program with the State Economic Development directors from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. Mark Hogan, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation; Brent Case, SR VP of Business Development for Intersect Illinois; and Elaine Bedel, President, of the Indiana EDC all pointed out economic development progress in their states, and the significant importance of workforce development and talent attraction. “Workforce issues are critical to successful economic development,” said Tracey Hyatt Bosman of Biggins, Lacy and Shapiro site consulting.
“The CoreNet Global program was a wonderful venue for NCI to showcase our organization and to have the opportunity to network,” said NCI Board Member Debb Ladgenski. Utilizing the fun Mardi Gras theme helped keep the event festive, and North Central Illinois as a positive and memorable sponsor. Promotional materials and the NCI Video demonstrated profit-making opportunities for business to grow and prosper in North Central Illinois.
