Ameren Illinois Completes 11-Mile High-Voltage Link Between Oglesby and Utica

Ameren Illinois has announced the completion of the La Salle Link Project. The long-discussed initiative features an 11-mile, 138-kilovolt transmission line connecting the Oglesby Corbin substation to an existing substation near Utica.

The company says the new link project provides additional pathways for energy to flow in the region, which will help minimize the impact of power outages on local communities. Ameren says the new line supports the expansion needed for continued growth in Starved Rock Country. As part of the project, Ameren also upgraded aging substations. The company says it prioritized the use of Illinois-based union electric workers during construction.

From Oglesby, the line runs north along Interstate 39 before it heads east, parallel to I-80, to Utica.

Ameren says it completed the project ahead of schedule and under budget.
