Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Village of North Utica launched the official grand opening day of the Market on Mill, a new downtown retail plaza featuring 12 in-house boutique shopping booths. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. led into the afternoon events, highlighted by the unveiling of the Lemonade Day Youth Market at 10 a.m. and noon.
The plaza, which cost approximately $1.8 million to build, is part of a broader effort to revitalize Utica's downtown and support small business growth. It is a seasonal retail incubator, giving local artists and small-scale retailers a place to sell to customers in a structured and visually appealing environment.
Market on Mill will be May to December, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to offering a diverse shopping experience, the property will have ongoing community events and activities during the season.
Town officials anticipate the market will bring in both tourists and residents, and also further stimulate the local economy, and increase Utica's appeal as a shopping destination for its quirky goods and family-friendly environment.
