Gardner Denver Expands in Princeton

Investment a result of Quality Workforce

Published Monday, December 19, 2016

Gardner Denver, manufacturer of industrial air compressors, is expanding its Princeton, Illinois facility by 27,000 square feet.  The company employs 96 workers.   According to plant manager Matt Jones, "This is the first time that Gardner Denver has expanded with new buildings in the United States in 18 years. It is a very big vote of confidence in our team to invest that capital.     The project should be completed by March 2017.

"We have gone through the lean manufacturing process to eliminate waste," said Jones.  "We have got down to a very lean workforce...a very flexible workforce and very hard working workforce.  I am proud of our team and am amazed by the amount of products that we successfully ship year after year."

The original Champion Company began in Chicago in 1919 and moved to Princeton in 1949.  Gardner Denver acquired the firm in 1998.  Champion is now a product brand of air compressors made by Gardner Denver.
